What is Claude Code Desktop preview?

The Claude Code desktop app can start your dev server and preview the app in a Browser pane. You can select elements in the preview and pass feedback to Claude, and Claude can take screenshots, read the DOM and console, and check its own changes.

PulseDev is a macOS desktop app. It runs a small server on your machine for each project, a widget on your dev site, and the coding agent CLI you already use. You click an element and describe the fix. In review mode, PulseDev asks the agent to propose changes rather than edit files, and applies those proposed changes when you click Approve.

When should you pick Claude Code Desktop preview, and when PulseDev?

If you only use Claude Code and like its desktop app, the built-in preview gives you element selection with no extra tool, and Claude can check its own work. PulseDev works in your everyday browser, including pages behind your login, lets you switch between Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI per fix, and keeps a queue of fixes per page. PulseDev runs the same Claude Code CLI, on the same plan.

Claude Code Desktop preview is the better fit if

  • Claude Code is your only agent and you use its desktop app.
  • You want Claude to screenshot and verify the UI on its own.
  • You want PR and CI monitoring in the same app.

PulseDev is the better fit if

  • You want to point at the page in your own browser, logged in, with your extensions.
  • You use more than one agent, or might switch.
  • You want a board of fixes per page, each with its own diff to approve.

Worth knowing: PulseDev runs on macOS only for now (Windows is coming), and it has no visual canvas or design-token editing. It is a way to point at a running page and hand the fix to your agent.
